Frequently asked
How does billing work?
Smouter is prepaid: you top up credits and every request is billed per token at the live rates on the models page. There are no seats and no minimums. Your full ledger lives in the dashboard under Billing.
How do I get an API key?
Create an account, verify your email, and mint a key from the dashboard. Smouter is OpenAI-compatible — point your existing SDK at our base URL and keep your code. The quickstart has copy-paste snippets.
A request failed or a charge looks wrong — what should I include?
Open a ticket with the request id, model, lane, and a timestamp — all four are on the Usage page next to each request. That’s usually everything we need to trace it end to end.
Is Smouter down?
The status page probes the live gateway and shows current incidents. If you see errors that status doesn’t explain, open a ticket — capacity issues on a specific model are exactly what we want to hear about.
What do you store about my requests?
The data-processing page spells out exactly what is stored, for how long, and why, and the privacy policy covers the rest.
How do I report a security issue?
Please disclose responsibly to security@smouter.ai — it goes straight to the team, ahead of the regular queue.
