Privacy policy.
A short, plain-language summary of what Smouter collects, why, and what we never do with it.
1. What this covers
This policy covers smouter.ai and the Smouter gateway. It does not cover third-party sites we link to (model providers, payment processors, analytics platforms) — those have their own policies.
2. What we collect on the website
- Account data. When you create an account we store your email address, credentials (hashed, never plaintext), and your billing history. Payment card details go to our payment processor and never touch our servers.
- Basic logs. Standard request logs from our hosting provider (IP, user agent, timestamp). Used to keep the site up and to spot abuse.
3. What we collect from the gateway
Every API call produces a usage record: model name, request and response token counts, timestamp, cache status, and what you were charged. This is the minimum we need to bill you correctly and to show your savings. Usage records never contain prompt or response text.
- We do not sell prompts or completions.
- We do not use your prompts or completions to train any model.
- Prompt and response bodies are not retained longer than the short window required to serve and cache the request, unless you opt in to longer retention for debugging.
4. Sub-processors
Smouter forwards requests to upstream model providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and others) per your routing configuration. Those providers act as sub-processors for the duration of the request. We will publish the full list, including hosting and payments, on the Data Processing page.
5. Your rights
You can ask us to delete your account and its data at any time. Email privacy@smouter.ai and we'll confirm within a few business days.
6. Changes
We'll update this page as the product evolves. Material changes will be flagged at the top with a new "last updated" date.
